Getting Away was Never Easier
Another doc-photo series from my dad's hometown Scranton, PA. Except this time, it's from high school when I had stlightly higher ambitions with my photography. This was when my grandmother was still alive, though living poorly. I always made sure to dress down whenever I went to Scranton because everything I brought with me would be saturated with cigarette smoke, so I find these portraits somewhat less-than-flattering. It's still an interesting time capsule to examine- 5 years ago. Now both my Grandmother and Uncle John (as scene in the army-print jumpsuit with my dad) have died and my father sold his childhood home where these portraits were taken. My dad often laments that we will never go back, now that there is no reason to visit.

Hank and Cupcakes
Saw these guys last night at The Bowery Ballroom, really great live performers. Sagit Shir, "Cupcakes" the singer/drummer, really knows how to work a crowd. HUGE stage crush on her. My favorite song of there's is their cover of "Like a G6", which is why some of my friends have heard me singing the lyrics to that ridiculous song (such a guilty pleasure now). I originally saw them perform at PS122 for AvantGardeRama, and this video was from a show they did at Joe's Pub.

Sketchbook
I've been drawing a lot more lately, which I'm really happy about. In the vain of many of my favorite cartoonists, I've been trying to get better at drawing myself so I can eventually draw comics about my life. I've also been really into drawing flowers lately, which is another theme popping up in my sketchbook. Most of the text comes out my subconscious, or is based on phrases I've heard.
