I recently got a book about cartooning by Ivan Brunetti. The first assignments had to do with spontaneous drawing. These doodles were all to be done in 5-10 seconds. I really recommend trying this out yourself, it was really easy and fun to do.
Assignment 1.2: Make a grid of about 100 boxes and draw quick sketches of whatever comes to mind.
